Who can be helped by Orthotics?
Orthotics benefit people with poorly supported feet during movement such as walking or running. An inability to keep the foot in a neutral position can imbalance other areas (ankle, knee, hip and spine etc). For example, the inside arch of the foot flattening during running (over or uncontrolled pronation) turns the ankle, knee and hip inwards and rolls the pelvis forward. This can strain parts of the body and cause injury.
Will the Orthotic get rid of my injury?
Orthotics simply allow the muscles, tendons and bones of the body to sit in their most supported position and therefore function at their best. Sometimes however, the joints themselves might not be working correctly. If this is the case, treatment is often needed to get everything moving alongside the Orthotic support. Injuries always need both good support AND good movement!
How can I get the right Orthotic for me?
Here at the Longlevens Chiropractic & Sports Injury Clinic we offer a custom orthotic fitting service that includes analysing your walking or running pattern (gait analysis) on a treadmill using a specialist computer package. This gives instant feedback about where your problems lie and helps to identify the best type of orthotic to support your feet.
People of all ages and all activities can be helped. Call us on 01452 309372 to book in for a foot consultation to see our Foot and Orthotic Specialist, Simon Rose. He will assess the problem, analyse how your feet move, and be able to recommend the best course of action to get you moving!
