Imogen is a qualified acupuncturist with a calm, thoughtful approach to care and a
strong belief in treating the whole person. She is a member of the British
Acupuncture Council (BAcC).
She discovered acupuncture while exploring more holistic ways to support her own
health and wellbeing. Experiencing improvements not only in symptoms but also in
her overall sense of balance and vitality sparked a deep interest in Chinese Medicine
and led her to train as an acupuncturist. Imogen completed a 3½-year degree at The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine,
where she trained in an integrated approach combining Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM) and Five Element Acupuncture.
What to Expect from Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a holistic system of medicine that treats the whole person rather than
isolated symptoms, with the aim of restoring balance and harmony within the body.
Your first appointment will be longer (approximately 90 minutes) to allow time for a
detailed health history and diagnosis. This initial session will also include a gentle
treatment to begin the process of supporting your body.
Follow-up appointments usually last around 45-60 minutes, allowing time to review
progress and continue treatment.
Imogen typically recommends starting with a course of 4-6 weekly treatments for
best results. Once improvements are established, appointments can usually be
spaced further apart to support longer-term wellbeing.
Treatment involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needles into carefully selected
acupuncture points, chosen based on your individual presentation. Acupuncture is
different from dry needling, while dry needling often focuses on releasing specific
muscles, acupuncture is part of a broader medical system that considers the whole
body and underlying patterns of imbalance.
Depending on your needs, Imogen may also use additional techniques such as:
Cupping – gentle suction to help ease muscle tension and improve circulation
Tuina – therapeutic Chinese massage
Gua sha – a gentle scraping technique used to release tightness and support
Circulation.
Lifestyle or self-care advice may also be offered where appropriate to support
treatment outcomes.
