Remedial Massage
The word remedial comes from ‘a remedy’, a word meaning ‘that which makes something better’.
Remedial massage is used to treat chronic muscular-skeletal imbalances, strains, sprains, broken bones, bruising or any injury where the skin is intact. Remedial massage is also used for conditions caused by lifestyle, for example Repetitive strain injury (RSI) and Back Pain. It is also designed to increase the flow of blood and improve lymphatic drainage.
Deep tissue massage removes blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesions. It speeds up recovery and encourages more complete healing. It can also be used to treat general muscle soreness from over exertion or repetitive postural issues i.e. from prolonged sitting at a desk.
During treatment there may be tenderness in the areas that are being treated, indicating which muscles and tendons are likely to be injured or ‘unhappy’. Your feedback is important because it is used to pinpoint the damaged tissue and to regulate pressure.
