Analysis of gait enables us to learn about how a person moves – whether walking, hiking, running, sprinting, or power walking. Our specific computer program will video your movement and give an immediate detailed analysis to you and your practitioner.
A wide range of faults can be picked up using technology. For example, faults during movement such as rotating a knee inwards or not lifting a knee sufficiently can often predispose a runner to muscle tears and joint sprains.
Common problems with walking
One common problem is an unlevel pelvis which causes a drop or tilt to one side, aggravating back and/or hip pain.
Common problems with running
One common problem with running is having the arch of a foot dropping in an uncontrolled manner when weight is passed onto the foot, often causing foot pain, shin splints and/or knee problems.
With information from a gait analysis we can advise a range of ways to improve performance. As well as treatment of the injury, we can advise on alterations to technique, specific stretches or specific muscle rehab, shoe inserts or orthotics, shoe and trainer advice, or heel lifts.
